Mohun Bagan under the new management is no different. They aim to recruit the best in the industry. They showed the passion last year when they signed Anwar Ali, Sahal Samad and Anirudh Thapa in a single transfer window.
This year is no different. The management has already secured the signature of the A-League legend Jamie Maclaren. Now, after chasing for almost 3 years, Mohun Bagan have successfully secured the deal of India's one of the most highly rated Midfielder Apuia Ralte from Mumbai City FC.
As we confirmed on 14 May, 2024, Mohun Bagan were always interested in Apuia and they were exploring the possibilities of this signature. MBFT understands, Mohun Bagan made Apuia their priority when it came to notice that the player has a Release clause and he is willing for a move.
Contradictory to popular reports, MBFT can confirm, Emami East Bengal were never leading the race for Apuia, it was Mohun Bagan all along. The breakthrough came 3 days earlier, when Mohun Bagan officially offered a 5 year deal to the player, and the deal moved swiftly.
It is believed, after long negotiation with the player, the club moved promptly to trigger the exit clause in Apuia's contract, which is believed to be around INR 2Cr (Believed to be less than that).
As per Marcus Mergulhao, the paperworks are signed now between Mumbai City and Mohun Bagan and Apuia joining Mohun Bagan is imminent at this stage.
In another news, another Mizo boy Lalbiaknia has failed to clear his medical and will return to Aizwal FC. Mohun Bagan will not complete the move now, but, will wait for the player to gain fitness. A future move is not unlikely.
Mohun Bagan has a long term interest in another Mizo sensation, Lallianzuala Chhangte, whom the club wants to acquire. With only one year remaining in his Mumbai City contract, MCFC will offer a new deal to their star player. It is reported by @islanderscentrl that the club wants to keep their best player, but, Mohun Bagan will keep an eye on the situation. It has been described, Mohun Bagan might make an 'UnRefusable' offer to the Oil Money group CFG to test the waters. Chhangte's name is surely to keep an eye on in the later part of the window.
