As reported earlier, in the request of Antonio Lopez Habas, Mohun Bagan scouted few Indian youngsters from I League and they have already signed Saurabh Bhanwala for CFL.
Now, as per our sources, Mohun Bagan has moved ahead in the race to secure the signature of I League's top goal scorer Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia & the player will join the club subject to Medicals. The Mizo forward became a sensation in last I League where he became the Highest scoring Indian in the league, scoring 15 times (assisted 3 times) in 20 matches for the former I League champions, Aizawl FC.
It was heavily speculated that the player will move to either Mumbai City FC or Mohammedan SC, but, as per our sources Mohun Bagan have recently moved in and made significant progress to secure the signature.
The deal is not yet done, as the medical test is still pending, but, the player is in advanced talks with the Green and Maroon brigade. MBFT understands, the player is open to a move to Bagan and club wants to bolster the attacking option for the Reserve Team as well as Senior Team. The club was looking for a replacement for Kiyan Nassiri, and Lalbiaknia can very well become that option if a deal is agreed.
