To further strengthen the defence, Mohun Bagan Super Giant has brought Alex Saji into the team. A key member of the Indian youth team, the Kerala footballer has already earned a good reputation playing in the center-back position. Last year, the twenty-six-year-old Saji played for Sporting Club Delhi. Prior to this, he has experience playing for renowned clubs like Gokulam Kerala, Kerala Blasters and NorthEast United. Keeping long-term team building in mind, the Green-and-Maroon management has signed a three-year contract with him.
Standing at six feet two inches tall, Saji always stays ahead in the battle for aerial balls. This is his great quality. This new footballer is arriving in the city tomorrow, Monday, to prepare for the Durand Cup. After passing his medical examination and signing the contract, here is what Alex Saji told the MBSG Media Team:
1. Why did you choose Mohun Bagan Super Giant?
Alex Saji: Playing for Mohun Bagan has always been a dream. It has a rich history and a great legacy. When this opportunity came, I felt it was the right time to be part of such a special club. Me and my family are very proud that I have joined Mohun Bagan.It is an honour to be part of this club and I cannot wait to get started and contribute to the team’s success.
2. What do you think about this year’s squad of Mohun Bagan Super Giant?
Alex Saji: We have a very strong squad as always. We have added more experienced players to the team, which will make us even stronger. Under Coach Panos, I’m sure we will continue to play as a strong unit and give our best in every match. I’m excited for the season ahead.
3. What is your target with Mohun Bagan Super Giant?
Alex Saji: My target is to give my best in every match and contribute to the team both on and off the field. I want to keep improving as a player and help the team in every way possible. It is also going to be a great learning experience for me to share the dressing room with so many senior players and I look forward to learning from all of them.

ডুরান্ড কাপের প্রস্তুতির জন্য কাল সোমবারই শহরে চলে আসছেন নবাগত এই ফুটবলার। মেডিক্যাল পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হওয়ার পর চুক্তিতে সই করে এমবি এসজি মিডিয়া টিমকে অ্যালেক্স সাজি যা বললেন.....
“মোহনবাগানের মতো ঐতিহ্য ও সফল ক্লাবের জার্সি পরার স্বপ্ন দেশের সব ফুটবলারেরই থাকে। আমারও স্বপ্ন ছিল এখানে খেলার। তাই সুযোগ আসার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তা নিয়েছি কারণ এটাই সবুজ মেরুন জার্সি পরে খেলার সেরা সময়। আমি এবং আমার পরিবার গর্বিত যে এরকম একটা ক্লাব খেলার সুযোগ পেয়েছি। অনুশীলনে নামার জন্য এবং খেলার জন্য মুখিয়ে আছি।“
“মোহনবাগানের এবারের দল আরও শক্তিশালী। গতবারের দলের সঙ্গে আরও কিছু অভিজ্ঞ ফুটবলার যোগ দিয়েছে। কোচ পানোসের নেতৃত্বে আমরা আরও শক্তিশালী হয়ে মাঠে নামব এবার। প্রতিটি ম্যাচে জিততেই মাঠে নামব এবং নিজের সেরাটা দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করব। নতুন মরসুমের কথা ভেবে আমি এখন থেকেই তাই উত্তেজিত ও রোমাঞ্চিত।“
“আমার লক্ষ্য নিজের সেরাটা দিয়ে ক্লাবকে চ্যাম্পিয়ন করা। সুযোগ পেলেই মাঠে এবং মাঠের বাইরে নিজেকে আরও উন্নত করার চেষ্টা করব। এখানে অনেক সিনিয়র এবং অভিজ্ঞ ফুটবলার খেলবে, তাদের সঙ্গে ড্রেসিংরুম ভাগ করে নেওয়াটা আমার মতো ফুটবলারের কাছে বড় ব্যাপার। ওদের সঙ্গে থেকে নিজেকে আরও উন্নত করাও লক্ষ্য আমার।“
