Mohun Bagan get 3 points with 3 goals scored on Sunday!



On arrival of Coach Panagiotis Dilmperis and his coaching staff in the City of Joy Sunday morning, Mohun Bagan registered many senior team players in the CFL squad, treating the games of the league as pre-season matches with limited available time before Durand Cup begins with the derby on 25th July, 2026.



After a win and a draw, Bagan players arrived on the pitch with the intent to impress the head coach and get back to winning ways. The starting lineup of Mohun Bagan Super Giant vs Kalighat Milan Sangha was as follows:



In the first half, Mohun Bagan started off slow, getting the hang of the game. The experienced CFL players felt comfortable on the wet pitch. At 5', Sayan faked one side, turned around and sprinted past the defenders on the left wing to finally send in a strong cross, but no one else could meet its end.

At 11', Bagan got a couple of corners. Dippendu headed the ball towards the ground for extra bounce but the keeper lept in the air and secured it. Two minutes later, Sahal and Sayan combined as a duo to penetrate the defensive line. Sayan floated the ball in but the Centre-Back cleared it before Suhail got anywhere near the ball.

Sahal kept showing off his skills. At 17', he twisted and turned in the midfield, and tried to find Kiyan with an excellent through pass, but the keeper closed down while the defender kept the guard up. Three minutes later, Bheke found Subhasis Bose on the left wing. A lethal cross sent in for two familiar faces, Sayan and Suhail in the box, but the keeper dove in between to get to the ball first.



At 35', Kiyan brilliantly got the ball all the way into the box, but the keeper once again stood up to the challenging cross.

A couple of minutes later, Sayan puts in a good cross for a tap-in goal from Suhail. But the genuine goal was disallowed as Sayan was called offside when he was clearly not as seen on replay. Another referee blunder occured at 45+4' when Sahal dribbled past a player, speeding into the box. He was brought down with no ball involvement in the tackle, but penalty was not given to the Mariners.



Before the start of the second half, two subs were made, bringing in Manvir and Liston onto the field. Manvir's first touch header could have been the goal from Kiyan's cross but it was off-target.

Mohun Bagan, unfazed by the referee decisions, kept increasing attacking intensity, waiting for the opponent to collapse. At 54', unmarked Kiyan's header whizzed over the post. A minute later, Liston's freekick from the left side was caught by the wall early. Two minutes later, Liston dribbled back and forth, finally cutting inside and releasing a curler. It bounced right in front of the keeper, curled across the second post to go out for a goalkick.

At 60', a goaline save came from KMS defenders. The scores stayed level but Bagan was adamant for 3 points. 62' and 5 players stood inside the box, eager to score a goal.

Formations changed over time, bringing variation to the game. Liston stuck to the left wing while Sayan shifted to the right and sometimes, in the box. Manvir became the striker who didn't stop himself from being the pseudo-winger at times. He got an aerial pass at the edge of the box and passed to Kiyan with his chest. The ball didn't quite reach him and it was cleared.

At 67', Sayan got an open scoring opportunity inside the box but he sent it screaming into the rainy clouds. The spectators in the stands were stunned to see him miss from that range!

At 70', Tanmoy sent in a good cross from midfield to Kiyan, who in turns found Bheke, who flicked the ball with his heel towards the second post but it rolled out off-target.

The new sub, Sandeep Malik brought the much-needed flair in the game. He made good of a pass inside the edge of the box and cut towards the center, which got him fouled and brought down inside the box with no ball involvement. Referee finally blew the whistle to award Mohun Bagan a penalty.

At 74', Manvir scored from the spot to give the first lead of the game. He slammed it bottom right corner before the keeper hit the ground.

At 76', Tekcham delivered an amazing through ball to Manvir. The tall man dribbled past the keeper but the ball manages to go away from him, out for a goalkick.

At 80', Manvir set up Sandeep this time, from the left channel. Sandeep ran up into the box, keeping the shot low and towards the near post but ball slipped away slightly outside the post.

Just a minute later, all the aggression paid off! What a strike from Tanmoy! Kiyan set him up outside the box. The distance didnt deter him. He shot with incredible strength and power straight into the top right corner. 2-0 for Mohun Bagan.

At 87', Kiyan's swerving corner was met by Dippendu near the first post. He flicks the ball towards the back post into the net with his head, just like Cummings in the previous ISL derby. 3 goals for Mohun Bagan.



Man of the Match award went to Tanmoy Ghosh for his high accurate pass count, interceptions, long balls and a thrilling goal for the Green-and-Maroon brigade.
