A Revenge Thriller on Friday as two Goliaths of ISL clash at VYBK!
The Mariners were on a roll on their first 4 matches but their Chariot of Victory was stopped briefly by an inspired Bengaluru side. Though they still remain unbeaten with 13 points from 5 matches, their performance in the last match has raised some crucial questions. Their finishing remains overdependent on players like Maclaren while other players lack decisiveness and killer instinct. Marquee players like Petratos got an easy chance to score but failed to do so in his 100th game as a Mariner. The flanks looked a bit rusty as well. They will definitely try to get back to their winning ways against a team that has challenged and troubled them the most since their induction in the ISL.
The Islanders on the other hand have had more or less a similar start to the season like the Mariners, with 11 points in 5 matches. Though they don't look like that scary Mumbai City FC that we all know to thrash opponents at their own will, they still pose some serious threat and are very much in contention for the title. And with Jamshedpur FC dropping points in their last 2 matches, MCFC would definitely not let this opportunity slide to dethrone the double defending Champs from the top of the table.

This, by far, would be the toughest match of the season till now for Mohun Bagan. Robson's presence would greatly boost the team's attacking prowess as he is available at the coach’s disposal. Defensively, the Green-and-Maroon brigade have been in synergy, conceding just 2 goals in last 5 matches. They need to pull off a similar performance against MCFC. The midfield duo needs to play higher up like they did vs Chennaiyin FC and try quick transitions in the attacking third. Enabling Maclaren will be a good focus point; that man has scored in every home match of ISL.MCFC, on the other hand, will be without key players like Dias, Valpuia and Brandon. Despite being weakened financially after City Football Group's exit, the Islanders have shown immense grit and passion! They definitely have the firepower and reason to go all out: One win and they go all the way to the top! The trio of Kauko,Bawitlung and Noufal have delivered when the team needed them the most. Chhangte is back to his scoring days with him being restored to his preferred right wing role under Peter Kratky. However, their last match versus Inter Kashi was at KBK and the hot weather affected their performance.

Robson Robinho: The Brazilian Samba magician showed us what he is capable of in the mini-derby clash against Mohammedan. But an unexpected injury put a halt to his exploits. He is reportedly fully fit and his feet would surely be itching to show us more of his magic.Jamie Maclaren: The Aussie fox in the box needs to do what he does best: SCORE! He has the instinct to find the gaps, anticipate the passes and finish with class. If enabled, he can be the final nail in the coffin.
Joni Kauko: One of Bagan's own and orchestrator of multiple domestic trophies for the Mariners, Kauko is back in the ISL. A technical genius that he is, the former Finnish international was also instrumental in Inter Kashi's rise as a footballing powerhouse. His recent inclusion into MCFC has brought flair into their midfield and bolstered their attack. He is capable of taking shots and scoring himself which makes him a person to be kept on radar.
