"On a bad day 2 Goals, +3 Points and a Clean Sheet are the Positives." : Coach Bastob Roy

 

Mohun Bagan SG beat United Sports Club 2-0 in a closely contested Calcutta Football League match on Saturday with a Magical Nongdamba Naorem Strike and a late Bomblastic Suhail Ahmed Bhat Golazo.

The result was harsh on Steve Herbots's team, who pressed well and created plenty of opportunities throughout the game. But Mohun Bagan's clinical finishing turned out to be the difference. 

A semi packed Mohun Bagan Ground witnessed a game, which had all the the classics. 

After analysing the game, Mohun Bagan Coach Bastob Roy along with The Goal Scorers, Suhail and Naorem, attended the Press Conference after the match. 

Coach Bastob Roy on Team's Performance :

“We can't deny, players were down. We had to make few changes because of the Durand-CFL collision and that definitely affected our game."

“As our focus now shifted to next match on Monday (Durand Cup), we had to substitute few of them to manage the workloads. We can't take risks. We'll talk with the Senior Team Coach in next days to fix our next targets."

Coach Bastob Roy on keeping a CleanSheet :

“Despite heavy pressures, my defenders were able to manage the game. On a bad day 2 goals, 3 point and a valuable Clean Sheet are the positives."

Coach Bastob Roy on United Sports Club :

“They were brilliant, they kept us in pressure throughout the game. We could've conceded in any moment of the game but my boys managed pretty well."

Coach Bastob Roy on the 2 GOALs :

“They (Suhail and Naorem) are Strikers/Forwards. They'll have to score on each and every game. It doesn't matter how we scored the goal, a goal is a goal for me. We scored, we won +3 points, that's what it matters."

Suhail Ahmed Bhat talked a few :

“I have same motivation for every match. I've to score goals and get that +3 points. Getting a chance in U23 National Team is definitely a big deal, I've to keep myself high."

“I'm a striker, it's my duty to score goals in every match. Now I'm scoring goals, people praising us. But they're will be time, when people will talk. Yes, that's the life of Striker. So, it's better for a Striker like me to keep scoring goals in every given opportunities.

Nongdamba Naorem talked a few :

“For me, Team matters the most. Yes I'm happy, I scored the goal & helped my Team to win."

“Confidence is a big deal for us. Coaches talk to us very often and they helps us a lot to rectify our mistakes, it definitely boosts our confidence."
