That's it for today! Tune into MBFT YouTube channel for the MBFT Live tonight from 9:30 PM. The celebrations must be shared. We'll be back on 12th October with another Live Match Update when Mohun Bagan travel to Guwahati to face NEUFC in their first ISL 2026-27 Match! Jai Hind, Jai Bharat, Joy Mohun Bagan! 💚💓
The 126th IFA Shield is ours!
The stage is ready. The Champions will be handed the prestigious IFA Shield very soon!
Two back-to-back IFA Shield Trophies by taking down arch rivals in both finals. What a feeling, indeed! It doesn't get any better than this.
It takes 6 people to carry the IFA Shield. And millions behind it to give it its true meaning. From National Freedom Struggle to Football, the IFA Shield remains in the place where it means more than anything : The Mariners' hearts! 💚💓
I wonder how the heroes of Immortal XI felt back in 1911 when they received this trophy by defeating the Yorkshire Regiments 2-1 in the Finals. I can barely comprehend it but I can say this much. This means a lot! It always did. It always will.
The stage is being prepared. The trophy will be given soon.
We are the Champions!! Ole Ole Ole!
The Gods have showered the Mariners with rain. The rain has come so that Mariners can sail to the promised land. The rain has extinguished the flame of the arch rivals! It is raining at the VYBK!
The Mohun Bagan fans are rejoicing to the songs of Mohun Bagan! The East Bengal stands are empty and all banners have been removed.
Since the Durand Cup defeat, two trophies, CFL and IFA Shield have graced the Mohun Bagan tent. Next mission: ISL!

When the waves of red-yellow and green-maroon hit the shore, the sands of time welcome it. Time waits for none but it goes down slowly for this match. It slows down every second, with your inner voice merging with the wind and your body becoming one with the crowd! One side stands and One side falls. When the final whistle blows, only one will declared victorious tonight!
The voice that comes out is from within. A cry, a scream, a shout for more! You feel it, embrace it and protect it because it's real. It always has been! It always will be!
In these high-intensity matches, it is difficult to keep calm and ignore. There is plenty of things that are going on all around the world but when the derby is called, questions remain hanging in the air. The tea goes cold and the brain gets flooded with emotions. It feels like a spell has been cast over the people and the city. Irrespective of where you are, if you have had a taste of this derby, you are tied to it. The hunger, passion and never-ending quest of one-upping the other fuels life more than life itself. For 90 minutes, the world can rotate about its axis and revolve around the sun. <b>Weather :</b> Temperature is 27°C, Humidity is 78% with high wind speeds of 20 km/hr. The cloudy skies over VYBK are raining down.
Training drill areas have been prepared by both teams for the players for final warm-ups.
<b>Lallianzuala Chhangte -</b> <i>The Mizo Flash</i> - has the capacity to be the difference maker in today's match. After being dropped from NT squad against WC opponents, he is ready to showcase his talent in the big matches!
<b>DJ Dejan Drazic</b> has been phenomenal, with his impressive work rate, long range accurate passing vision and delivery and dribbling on the field.
<i>Our 'Tublu'</i> - Miguel still needs to display<i> Joga Bonito - the Brazilian Flair</i> that the Mariners so closely yearn for since Barreto's matchdays.
Vishal Kaith at goal is the saviour of the Mariners Brigade. The defence looks shaky with Bose and Bheke making mistakes, but Alberto is a monster on the field. More expectations on Samir to pull through in the midfield. Deepak Tangri and Abhishek Suryavanshi are good backup options and might even start today.
Speaking of MBSG, their new Scottish foreign striker, Lee Erwin, has got a promising start. 2 goals in 3 games and he is hungry for more! Apart from Jamie Maclaren and Asish Rai, all the players are fit and available. 6 of the NT players - Mehtab Singh, Tekcham Abhishek Singh, Apuia, Anirudh Thapa, Sahal Abdul Samad and Manvir Singh are back with the squad.
EBFC staff and management are also on the field right now.
Mohun Bagan staff and management are also on the field.
Coach Panagiotis Dilmperis is alone on the VYBK pitch, taking a stroll along the white lines. He reached to touch the bar and the goal line with prayers on his lips.
EBFC have 4 NT players - Prabshukan Gill, Jay Gupta, Anwar Ali, Edmund Lalrindika, back in the squad and ready for disposal.
In attack, Chris has had an uneven start to the season. David, as an Indian striker, has been clinical in most games.
New inclusions in defence, Hardik Bhatt and Sandeep Mandi, have been quite impressive! They got ample gametime and proved their worth. Their midfield is in complete synergy with Bassim Rashid as the main playmaker and Dani Ramirez as the attacking pivot. Rohit Danu, Rohit Kumar and Raynier Fernandez are domestic additions to the midfield of EBFC.
Both of their keepers are in good form. Gill got to feature in India vs Brazil and conceded just one goal. Lachenpa, the Golden Glove Winner of ISL 2023-24, is their strong backup option.
Coming into the IFA Shield Final, they are unpredictable. They lost their group stage match against Punjab FC 1-0 and then bounced back 7-2 against NEUFC, where their two new foreign striker, Ake Loba and Lukasz scored a goal each! One of their Spanish foreign defenders, Nacho Monsalve has already been released due to injury concerns and replaced by Croatian defender, Diego Zivulic.
First of all, the opponents, the arch rivals, EBFC. They had a shaky start, with a loss in the opening match of the season to Mohun Bagan. They bounced back quickly to win the Durand Cup. They also won the their ACL2 qualifier match by defeating Al Arabi SC. Their ACL2 campaign got a promising start with 2-2 draw against Jordanian League champions, Al Hussein. All that with an incomplete foreign squad.
Before the match begins, let's discuss about both the teams and how they are looking ahead of this mega clash!
The ceremony of IFA Shield Final is being performed by Dhakis and dhunuchi naach - The traditional Durga Puja experience!
