~: How the Match Unfolded :~
Right from Kickoff, Bagan pressed deep into the JFC backlines. Drazic pounced from behind in anticipation of a pass and intercepted the ball to assist Sahal, who gave the early lead to the Mariners by slotting it past the keeper. The first 15 minutes, Mohun Bagan continued to exert pressure and kept attacking with quick one-touch passes and sideback overlaps while the wingers drifted inwards.At 16', Sanan played the ball back and forth with Devendra to penetrate the backline, and took a shot at goal from an acute angle, which Vishal covered well. JFC took control of the game for the next ten minutes, launching a volley of attacks that Alberto and Bheke stopped early on.
Dejan missed two crucial chances to score, a free shot attempt inside the box from Tekcham's cross and a free header from Liston's cross, both wasted by improper final touches.
Rashithoi fouled Apuia in a harsh tackle on his feet and got awarded a yellow card. In 37', Subhasish delivered a good cross in the box and it bounced on the ground before meeting Nikhil Barla's out-stretched hand. No penalty was awarded by the referee that left Coach Panos shocked by the turn of events.
5 minutes later, Sanan mispassed the ball back to Manvir, who combined with Sahal and then, the ball reached Liston, whose final curler shot from edge of the box wasn't too far from the frame.
In 45', Rashithoi had ample space in front of him in the midfield, which allowed him to gather and release a long-range screamer. Vishal palmed the ball down but Devendra was lurking near the backline, who reacted before Alberto to score it past Vishal. At Half Time, scores became level.

Samir made his debut as Apuia's replacement. His performance was overall average. He had good positioning around the pitch but lacked match fitness which ultimately resulted in inaccurate ball releases and lazy track backs. He took two shots at goal and one of them was on target.
JFC focused more on defense with the occasional counter attack attempts by Aman and Sanan, but Alberto and Rahul made it impossible for them to penetrate into the box.
Mohun Bagan, on the other hand, took their chances but the attacks lacked sharpness.Sayan was brought on to replace underwhelming and disappointing Liston, and Mariners got a breath of fresh air. Maclaren snatched the ball in 83', but Albino got down quickly to save the grounded shot. Both Maclaren and Alberto were physically brought down in the box without the involvement of the ball, but the referee paid no attention to them. In 90+5', Sayan was free to take a shot at goal, which he did but Albino was on his toes.
A draw in regulated time meant only one thing: Penalties!
Lalhriathpuia walked and played it top right corner. Rahul Bheke chose the bottom right corner.

Raynier slotted it into the top right corner as well. Vishal jumped in the right direction both times but had no chance to save! Samir scored with immense power in the bottom right corner, before Albino's dive could reach it.

Aman scored in the bottom right as Vishal took his time to jump. Captain Bose walked up to place it into the bottom left corner as Albino jumped in the other direction.

Abhishek Ambedkar shot it same as Subhasish did. Maclaren chose to smash it with power and it was too much for Albino.

JFC Captain, Pronay Halder, scored in the top left corner as Vishal dove on the right. Kiyan walked up and took his shot that hit the bottom of the bar to go into the net. Both teams scored the first 5 penalties. It was time for Sudden Death Penalties!

Nikhil Barla shot it straight as Vishal dove on the right. Suhail placed it on the far right, but although Albino got a hand to it, he couldn't stop the ball from hugging the net.

Mama walked up to shoot towards the botton left corner. Vishal predicted his shot and dove perfectly to make the save. Tekcham came up to shoot. Albino dove the right way but Tekcham's accuracy and power behind the shot resulted in a top left corner finish.

Mohun Bagan won the match 9-8 in penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulated time.

Vishal Kaith was awarded the Player of the Match award for making the match-defining save in sudden death penalties.
Jamshedpur FC, once a giant in Indian football that won many trophies, has played their last match and they go out with a fight. Mohun Bagan will travel to Shillong to face formidable opponents, NorthEast United FC, in the Semi-Finals of Durand Cup, 2026 on 20th August.
