Mohun Bagan ready for the Quarter Final Challenge!
Its quarter final time in the Durand Cup as the Mariners come face to face with the Men of Steel on August 17 at the Vivekananda Yuvabharati Krirangan in Saltlake.
This will most likely be the last time that Mohun Bagan will face Jamshedpur FC, as the latter has ceased operations and transferred their players and coaching staff along with their ISL License to Churchill Brothers FC.
Similar to Mohun Bagan, JFC secured big-margin wins in their group stage matches albeit a 2-1 loss to SC Delhi. . Given the fact that the off-the-field drama in which they were tangled in, their performance seems to be quite up to the mark!

The record champions have played a very pragmatic style of football under their new coach. The chemistry has slowly developed among the team players as the tournament progressed. However,this would be Bagan's toughest test since the East Bengal match. While Mohun Bagan is prone to making a few defensive errors, their attacking has been sharp and precise. One-touch pass gameplay shifts the momentum from defence to offense before the opponents can react. The wings have the capacity to score which adds to the pressure in the attacking third. Apuia and Thapa will dictate the tempo of the game with ball possession and direct approach towards the goal.Though Jamshedpur FC are without foreign players,the former ISL shield champions are not to be taken lightly with their pacey wingers and relentless midfield block duo, Pronay and Raynier. Lethal attackers with the likes of Sanan, Murgaonkar and Aman, who have turned up in this tournament, can really take the game away.

Sahal Abdul Samad : The current hearthrob of the Mohun Bagan faithful, the starboy has been sensational in this tournament. Struggling to find minutes in the previous season, the talented midfielder has found a new lease of life under the new head coach. Having already scored 4 goals in the group stage including a first half hattrick against the CISF Protectors and the match winning goal against East Bengal, he is our best hope for lifting the record 18th title.Dejan Drazic : Our new signing this season, the Serbian has looked superb whenever he has touched the ball. His exceptional build-up play and exquisite passing has mesmerized everyone. He has been involved in almost every big chance that have been created by Bagan. Known for his exploits at FC Goa, he is expected to continue doing the same for the Mariners.
Pronay Halder : Once one of Mohun Bagan's own, the Jamshedpur captain is one of the main reasons why they have conceded just 2 goals in the whole group stage. A rock solid and reliable central defensive midfielder whose experience will be crucial for keeping the Bagan attackers at bay.
