~: How the Match Unfolded :~

The Mariners kicked off the proceedings and started on an aggressive note from the get go.They piled on the pressure with Liston,Thapa and Drazic creating problems for the CISF defence. The super stubborn defending from the Protectors kept the scoreboard level for the first 15 minutes but the deadlock was finally broken two minutes later by none other than our starboy Sahal, with Drazic being the mastermind behind the attack and Liston providing the assist.

And from here on, the opponents fell like a house of cards. Sahal cored another one just two minutes later, with Drazic being the assister. Manvir scored the third goal for the Mariners in the 24th minute, making the scoreline 3-0, slotting the ball across the net from Tekcham's cross. Khan's men looked completely helpless infront of the Mariners.

A penalty appeal was also made by the Mariners in the 28th minute for a challenge on Manvir by Muneesh, but it was not entertained by the referee. And the things went from bad to worse for the Protectors as Sahal completely obliterated their defence and scored a wonderful hattrick in the 37th minute. The first half ended 4-0 in favour of the Mariners.

The second half was relatively slow as Mohun Bagan turned to their bench and gave the other players their much-needed gametime. Manvir, Sahal, Kiyan and all got numerous chances but couldn't convert.

It was Maclaren who scored in the 68th minute ,just 6 minutes after coming on making the scoreline 5-0 just before Tekcham joined the party in the 73rd minute and finally completed the destruction. Liston provided two assists but his overall shot taking capability can only improve from here on out. In the dying minutes, Syed pulled off an incredible save to deny the defensive error from being converted.

The scoreline at Full Time was 6-0.

Sahal Abdul Samad was awarded the Player of the Match award for scoring a hattrick.
