Mohun Bagan wins 5-1 against Odisha FC.
10-men JFC get 3 points against Inter Kashi FC.
SC Delhi draws against Mumbai City FC.
-: ISL GameWeek 4 BREAKDOWN :-
Football never ceases to amaze us! March is here and we are already 4 gameweeks down in this short season of ISL 2025/26. The table hasn’t changed much since the major overhaul of GW3 but many teams have dropped points in this week’s fixtures.EBFC and FC Goa locked horns at VYBK which ended in a goalless draw. Miguel who performed exceptionally well in the first two matches, did quite the opposite by shooting the ball aimlessly countless times from the midfield. Perhaps, it was the selfish ego to score goals for his team, like Robson did for MBSG, which affected his natural performance. Punjab FC drew against NEUFC with 1-1 scoreline. Effiong scored an amazing goal with a backheel that equalised the score after Parthib’s shot found the net. Mumbai City FC, despite getting an early 2-goal lead, ended up drawing against relentless underdogs, SC Delhi. Bengaluru FC managed to win against MSC, who put up a good fight against most teams but success has eluded them. On the other hand, an early red hard to Vincy Barreto reduced the Red Miners to 10-men, who ultimately proved enough to secure 3 points against Inter Kashi FC and stay unbeaten in the league. KBFC are yet to register a point sitting at the bottom alongside all-Indian MSC and loses yet another game, this time against Chennaiyin FC. Last but not the least, the biggest margin win of GW4 comes from the table toppers with +12 GD, Mohun Bagan who demolished Odisha FC in a match that can only be called one-sided after the masterclass Maclaren pulled off in VYBK.
-:Best XI of the Week:-
Vishal Kaith is on the verge of getting 50 cleansheets as the Mariner’s Flying Kite. Despite conceding a goal from defensive miscommunication, his performance was perfect in the 2nd half. He denied two 1-on-1 chances against Rahim Ali and Isak. He also created a goal chance from a quick long throw to Maclaren in the midfield that launched a counter attack. Though he was less involved in the game due to Mohun Bagan’s constant attack in the opposition half, he made clinical saves that resulted in a respectable dominating scoreline for the Mariners.Manoj Mohammed was part of the comeback squad and his goal secured the first point in ISL for SC Delhi. He also made 16 defensive contributions. EBFC didn’t lose two matches in a row, and all credit for that goes to Anwar Ali. He made 8 recoveries and 3 tackles that prevented a goal-bound shots from FC Goa striker, Ishan Pandita. He delivered 58 passes with 87% accuracy and 2 key passes for his team. Stephen Eze and Alberto Rodriguez, both get retained in the Best XI of the Week for their unparalleled performance. They both scored a goal each for their team. Eze stood as a rock making 14 defensive contributions for JFC and their 10-men squad for the most of the match proved enough against Inter Kashi to register 3 points from the game. Alberto delivered 84 passes with 88% passing accuracy. He also gave 7 long balls for switch-up plays and made total ball progression of 256 metres!
In the midfield, Mahotish steals the spotlight against BFC. Despite being the underdogs, he made it quite difficult for the Blues to get 3 points. Apart from giving 2 key passes and winning duels all around the field, he scored a goal for MSC. In the dying minutes, MSC’s goal was controversially disallowed due to a foul on the goalkeeper whereas video evidence showed no contact at all. The team needs steps up to fight relegation and go for 3 points as most of their games have been quite close for call.
Madih Talal has improved a lot this season. He played 5 key passes and gave the assist to Stephen Eze. Though his crosses have been inaccurate, he sent 6 long balls and controlled the midfield for the Red Miners. His presence on the left wing has been crucial in combination with Sanan and Rei. His attacking form is the reason why JFC remain unbeaten till date in ISL 2025/26. Alberto Noguera shined for Chennaiyin FC inspiring a win after a heart-breaking loss against Bagan in GW3. He delivered 2 key passes and enabled Imran to score for the team. He played 53 passes with 83% accuracy and contributed defensively as well.
Liston Colaco was been in tremendous shape and form on last Friday. He dribbled effortlessly with pace on the right wing and gave 2 assists to Maclaren. He also took 4 shots out of which 2 went sliding past the post. His total carrying distance of 208 metres show how much he contributed to Bagan’s huge margin win against Odisha FC.
Up front, Matija Babovic gets to share the stage with Maclaren. His outstanding footwork in the box deserves praise where he dribbles past 3 players to score the goal against Mumbai City FC and equalize the scoreline. As for the man of the week, Jamie Maclaren, he took 7 shots with 5 on target and 4 that hit the back of the net. This makes him the second person to score 4 goals in a single ISL match after Modou Sougou (Mumbai City FC) in 2018. Being at the right place at the right time, his instinct took over the game and we got a taste of what he brings to the table in ISL as the all-time A-league top goalscorer.
As for the coach of the week, that award goes to Spaniard Sergio Lobera. His gameplan is not only domination, but also a beauty to witness! Under his guidance, Bagan looks dangerous and lowkey destructive for any opponent in ISL. With a 5-1 back-to-back wins in GW3 and GW4, he is on a roll right now!
BEST XI of GameWeek 4
-:Expectations from GameWeek 5:-
The blockbuster match will be 6th placed Bengaluru FC who will host table toppers, Mohun Bagan, in their first away game in Kanteerava Stadium on 14th March. With a shaky start this season and an early loss against Punjab FC, BFC will fight to take down the mighty Mariners and even settle for a draw with their solid backline squad depth. JFC will also face NorthEast United FC which has a possibility of them dropping points. Mumbai City FC remain unbeaten despite an expected draw result against SC Delhi and Inter Kashi FC will face them with the hope of a bounce back from their previous loss handed by 10-men JFC.Follow MBFT on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Telegram, Whatsapp & Google News to stay updated with all the Mohun Bagan & Indian Football related News & Updates.
