Mohun Bagan Set to Sign Amey Ranawade on a 3 Month Deal Pending Medicals

In a surprising turn of events, Mohun Bagan are all set to complete a deal to sign ex-player Amey Ranawade in a short-term deal to cover for the injured Asish Rai.

Ranawade joined Mohun Bagan in the 2018/19 season on loan from FC Goa, and had a fantastic CFL campaign. Amey quickly became a fan favourite and played a crucial role in Shankarlal Chakraborty's CFL-winning Bagan side.

Since his stint at Bagan, he rose into prominence and played for clubs like FC Goa, Mumbai City FC, Odisha FC and Kerala Blasters.

He became a crucial part of Sergio Lobera's game plan at Mumbai, and later the Spaniard signed him at Odisha FC too.

As Bagan's first team right-back, Asish Rai suffered an injury setback, which will keep him out for at least 90% of the ISL campaign. Coach Lobera requested the management for an experienced right back, and he suggested Amey as his preferred choice.

Bagan recently struck a deal with Blasters for the transfer of Salahuddhen Adnan K to the Kerala side, and sources have told MBFT that Amey's name was discussed in the deal.

Though not a straight swap or permanent deal, it is believed that both clubs came to an agreement, where Amey will join Bagan for the remainder of the season and will return to KBFC once the season is over.

As the transfer window was closed, the clubs had to work out a formula to make the deal happen, and MBFT has been told that Bagan, Blasters and Ranawade have agreed on a tri-party agreement, where Amey will sign a 3-month contract at Bagan as Bagan will bear the cost of his entire salary (Approx INR 80 Lakhs) for this period, and then he will get back to Kerala to fulfill his remaining 4 year contract.

Sources close to the development at Kolkata told MBFT that this type of deals require Special Approval from the country's parent body, and all the parties have asked for the same. It is believed that the deal is at final stages, and once the approval comes, Bagan will arrange a medical test in Kolkata.

Unless a last-minute miracle happens from any of the parties involved in the deal, it is believed the deal is imminent, and Amey will be a part of the Bagan squad when they host Kerala Blasters next week.
