The ISL season is finally back, as the defending champions Mohun Bagan are set to host Kerala Blasters FC in the season opener at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Before the season officially Kicks Off, Mohun Bagan have scheduled a Presentation to the media, where they will host a press conference tomorrow with Head Coach Sergio Lobera, who will conduct his first-ever press conference as the club's Head Coach.

Behind the scenes, Lobera is preparing for what has been described as a Knock-Out League competition for the past 3 months. Recently, an injury setback hit the Bagan camp, as Right Back Asish Rai suffered a knee injury. Though MBFT has been told he is not out for the entire season and will make a comeback in the business end of the campaign if the Medical team allow him.

On the other hand, Mohun Bagan are already preparing for the next season's ISL, where they have already established preliminary contacts with the representatives of multiple players.

But, not only new targets, Bagan are set to evaluate the contract situation of multiple players from the current squad. At least 6 first team player's contract is set to expire in May 2026, and Bagan are already in talks internally on taking the final call on the renewal list.

FC Goa's midfielder Glan Martins joined Bagan on a multi-year loan deal, which is set to expire in the coming May, and Bagan are currently not thinking about a new deal as the player is expected to return to his parent club.

Defenders Tom Aldred, Alberto Rodriguez, Midfielder Deepak Tangri, and World Cupper duo Dimitri Petratos and Jason Cummings's contracts are expiring too, and Mohun Bagan have started preliminary talks with the representatives of a few players.

As revealed earlier, we can exclusively confirm that Mohun Bagan have established preliminary contract talks with the representatives of Alberto Rodriguez Martin. The crowd-favourite is excited about the prospect of a longer stay; however, he will only commit his long-term future with the club if there is certainty about the future of the Indian Super League.

MBFT can exclusively confirm that Mohun Bagan have started initial discussions with the camps of  Deepak Tangri, originally a Mohun Bagan youth academy boy, who cameback to the club in the summer of 2021 and had an outstanding ISL 2024/25. Tangri can be described as the modern-day "Ghorer Chele" of Bagan, who spent the lion's share of his professional career at his boyhood club apart from a short stint at the Indian Arrows and the Chennaiyin FC. Bagan is not willing to release the Indian International for free, but the player and club will only make a decision after the completion of the current ISL season.

Mohun Bagan are willing to extend Jason Cummings's stay at the club too, MBFT were told, but, as of February 4th, 2026, MBFT are not aware of recent contract extension talks, though, if the future of ISL is certain by the end of April, Bagan will definitely try to tie the Aussie talisman to a new contract.

MBFT have been told that coach Sergio Lobera has been given the task to closely monitor the current situation of Dimitri Petratos, as Bagan is yet to take a final call on the same. Dimitri's contract was extended in the summer of 2024, which is set to expire this year, and Coach Lobera will take the final call on the same.

In other news, FanCode has won the streaming rights for the ISL 2025/26, and they are expected to announce the Plans within a few days. They are in talks with multiple television networks, and SONY has emerged as the leading candidate, though other platforms are in contention too.
