Mohun Bagan SG has completed the signature of Mehtab Singh from City Football Group's Mumbai City FC for an Undisclosed Transfer fee, MBFT can confirm. After a chase of 2 seasons, Mohun Bagan have finally landed their primary centre back target.
Mehtab Singh's name first came into Mohun Bagan transfer room in the summer of 2024-25 season. After securing Apuia last summer, they were in lookout for a Domestic Centre back, and Mehtab was the primary choice of Bagan scouting department. An initial inquiry was raised but Mumbai were reluctant to let him go.
Coming to this transfer season, Mohun Bagan made sure they will get Mehtab at any cost, and, negotiations with Mumbai began in early May. MBFT reported exclusively about the interest in February 2025.

After multiple rounds of negotiations, Mohun Bagan have finally secured the Mehtab Singh deal for an Undisclosed Transfer fee.It is believed, Mohun Bagan SG Chairman Dr. Sanjiv Goenka personally got involved in the discussion with City Football Group to close the deal. Mehtab has passed his Mohun Bagan medical last night, and, he has signed a 5 year deal with the ISL Champions.
It's no secret, Mehtab's Ex Club Emami East Bengal wanted to enter the race for Mehtab, but the player made sure to inform he only wants to play for Mohun Bagan.
Mohun Bagan wanted to have an option to start with three foreigners up top, and, coach Jose Molina wanted Mehtab for this role. Now, we can officially confirm, Molina has got his man, as Mehtab Singh is set to make his debut against AHAL FK in ACL Two for Mohun Bagan.
After signing for Mohun Bagan, Mehtab said " It's a dream of every Indian footballer to Play for Mohun Bagan; I dreamt that too, and, My dream is now fulfilled. Mohun Bagan is a very strong side, with a mixture of the best Indian talents and foreign Footballers. The coach (Jose Molina) is very respectable, successful and experienced. The club is one of the best in the country."
Confirming the East Bengal interest, he added "I had offers from another Kolkata club, but, I felt if I play under Molina, I will flourish more in my career. The team management is one of the best, they know how to be successful."
Mehtab added "I have won ISL Shield and Cup twice for Mumbai City FC. I have played in the AFC Champions League too. I know that experience will help me here; I know our first match in ACL Two is on 16th September; I will try to share the experience (of playing the Champions League) with my teammates. I want to settle quickly with the team."
Speaking about his targets, Mehtab informed " It's very special to play in Kolkata; Mohun Bagan fans are the Best in the country. I know everything about their love and passion for the club. Derby is always special, I want to win derbies for Mohun Bagan. No player can be successful, if they are not a dreamer. I dream of winning many trophies with Mohun Bagan, but my first goal will be to win our first game in ACL Two!"
