Last Sunday, when it was confirmed Ashique Kuruniyan is set to depart Mohun Bagan, we Exclusively reported, Mohun Bagan are in talks with Kiyan Nassiri Giri for a potential Homecoming.

Now, IFF News and Marcus Mergulhao has confirmed Kiyan Nassiri is coming back to Mohun Bagan from Chennaiyin FC, as Chennai has accepted a bid to release Kiyan from the club. Marcus exclusively confirmed Chennai and Mohun Bagan have agreed a fee around INR 30 Lakhs for the transfer of Nassiri.

Son of the famous Jamshed Nassiri, Kiyan joined the Mohun Bagan youth ranks in 2018, and in 2019 he made his senior debut under Kibu Vicuna, where he came as a sub against Neroca FC. Kiyan rose into prominence when he came as a substitute in a Kolkata derby when Bagan were trailing 0-1; he came and scored a hattrick to change the game in favour of the Indian football giants.

Kiyan's Mohun Bagan contract was expiring in 2024, and, despite a contract renewal offer from the Kolkata side, Kiyan decided to join Chennaiyin FC, where coach Owen Coyle promised him a starting role.

However, Kiyan struggled to get gametime in the southern club, and, since January, he wanted to make a comeback to Mohun Bagan. When coach Jose Francisco Molina saw the opportunity to have an Indian ISL experienced attacker in the squad, who can operate centrally, he gave his green light.

As we discussed in our video, not only Right Wing, Mohun Bagan also see kiyan as an option to operate as a Second Striker/ Striker or Number 10, who can be an excellent backup option to Jason Cummings.

After coach Molina's green light, Mohun Bagan stepped up the talks and Kiyan has agreed to sign a Multi Year deal, sources have informed MBFT.

After securing the services of Robson Robinho from Agua Santa in April, Kiyan becomes the 2nd signing for Mohun Bagan for the 2025/26 season.

Apart from Kiyan and Robson, Mohun Bagan are said to be working in a deal to sign Hyderabad FC's Abdul Rabeeh, which was Exclusively revealed by MBFT in Early January, whose contract is expiring in 2026. Mohun Bagan are in negotiation with Hyderabad FC for this deal, and, it will be interesting to see if a move can be agreed.

Mohun Bagan's primary two targets are two marquee Indian national team defender Mehtab Singh and Tekcham Abhishek Singh; where, multiple reports are coming in saying Mohun Bagan are waiting to see how things develop amongst the current uncertainties regarding ISL. Regarding this, MBFT understands, while it is true, that Mohun Bagan are taking things a little slow for this marquee Indian players, Mohun Bagan fans shouldn't be worried as Mohun Bagan are actively negotiating with the parent clubs and player representatives to agree a deal. Mohun Bagan will not rush to make any decision, as they have enough time. They feel Middle of July can be decisive for these deals.

A source has indicated, the current plans are to start the preseason by the end of July, but, things can change as no final decision is taken.
