Lalramzauva
Khiangte
DOB: 1 January 1997
Position: Central Midfielder
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0
Khiangte’s first season seems to be the
2016-17 I-League with Aizawl FC. In the 2017-18, he was part of the Mohunbagan
squad, on loan from FC Pune City FC Reserves. The next year, he was signed by
Mohunbagan on a permanent basis. Though he didn't play in I-League a single
minute, and made it into the substitution bench in only a few games, the
youngster was kept for the 2020-21 season by the Atk Mohunbagan management for
two years.
From
2022-23 season onwards, he is plying his trade for clubs playing in the lower
divisions of I-League and state leagues with FC Bengaluru United (2022-23),
Kerala United (2023-24) and Downtown Heroes (2024-25).

VP
Suhair
(Suhair Vadakkepeedika)
DOB: 27 July 1992
Position: Right Winger, Centre Forward
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 16
An interesting fact about this man from
Palakkad, is that he came from the United SC academy and represented the team
in 2016 CFL. In 2017, he was signed by Gokulam Kerala for their reserves.
Impressed with his game, East Bengal came calling, and he was decent in the
red-and-gold colours in CFL, but in the national league stage, he got sidelined
for the whole season with an injury. The next season, he went back to Gokulam
on loan.
In 2019-20 season, he became a vital cog in
Kibu Vicuña's system, playing in CFL, Durand and the Sk Kamal Cup and starting
every match in the I-League.
Post league win, just like Bagan, he went to
ISL, but for Northeast United for 2020-21 and 2021-22.
He returned to Kolkata for the 2023-24 season
with East Bengal before sailing to Kerala, to sign for Gokulam in the 2024-25
season.

Shilton
Paul
DOB: 10 June 1988
Position: Goalkeeper
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0
A proper ‘Tata product’, coming up from the
Tata academy, the man from Maslandapur, was the guardian of the goal for Bagan,
post Sangram Mukherjee era. With his vast career with Bagan from 2006 to 2020,
he achieved a distinction of winning the National League twice with Mohunbagan.
Shilton was even the captain of the 2014-15 I-League winning team under Sanjay
Sen, though he had to concede his position of the first choice GK in the squad
that year, following the emergence of a young Debjit Majumder. As ISL was
running parallel to I-League, Shilton was part of ISL set-ups like Chennaiyin
(2014), Kerala Blasters (2015), Atk (2016), all on loan from Mohunbagan.
In his
last year with the club, Shilton was part of the trophy winning squad as 3rd
choice keeper, making him 1/3rd of the prestigious list of being part of both
the 2014-15 and 2019-20 I-League wins.
In the
2020 CFL, he turned up for Bhawanipore FC, before featuring in I-League with
Churchill Brothers for two seasons (2020-21, 2021-22).
In
2024, he played for ASOS New Barrackpore Rainbow, before announcing retirement
post CFL season but not before showing his prime form against the Bagan colts.

Deep
Saha
DOB: 5 August 2001
Position: Attaker
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0
The
first of the Mohunbagan youth products to feature in this list, whom Kibu and
Tomasz scouted from the ZeeBangla league that year, though he didn't get any
gametime in I-League.
In the 2020-21 season, he signed up for the
Kerala Blasters reserves.
From the 2023-24 season, he was part of the
Bhawanipore FC squad.

Debjit
Majumder
(On loan from Atk)
DOB: 6 March 1988
Position: Goalkeeper
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 2
The second player to be part of the
prestigious list of being part of both the 2014-15 and 2019-20 campaigns.
The man from Hindmotor Uttarpara, came up
through the ranks of FCI and Kalighat MS, before making the big club move to
East Bengal in 2011. He joined Bhawanipore for the next two years (2012-14),
before heading to Mohunbagan in 2014-15. He became a vital stay in the
Mohunbagan squad that won the 2014-15 I-League title and the 2015-16 Federation
Cup title. Delighted with performance under the bar, he was nick-named
‘Save’-jit and won the best Goalkeeper of I-League in 2014-15 and then again in
2016-17. He also got a national team call-up during his time at Mohunbagan but
that didn't materialise. In the ISL, he also played for Mumbai City FC (2015)
and Atk(2016) on loan, before signing for Atk in the 2017-18 season. He did
return to Mohunbagan for the 2019-20 season on loan. He did start a lot of
matches in CFL and Durand and also the first 2 matches of I-League, but after
getting only 1 point from the first two matches of the league, Kibu decided to
tinker with the squad, and Sankar Roy got selected to start in the playing
eleven. Debjit was a key figure in the dressing room though, motivating the
squad before crucial games. And on 10, March 2020, Debjit won his second
I-League title with Mohunbagan.
He then
again moved to ISL, but this time with East Bengal (2020-21), before going
south to Chennaiyin for two years.
In the
2024-25 season, he returned to East Bengal as second choice GK to Pravsukhan
Gill.

part of both Mohunbagan's I-League title wins in 2014-15 and 2019-20.
Dhana
started his career with Air India and Churchill Brothers. The Imphal man then
went to Mumbai FC in 2011-12, before coming to Kolkata with Prayag United SC
and playing for them for 2 seasons 2012-13 and 2013-14. The next season he came
to the Goshta Pal Sarani to win the first I-League with Sanjay Sen’s men. But
he was a busy man, during ISL times, he played for Chennaiyin FC, topping the
league standings, though his team lost out in the knockout rounds. In the same
year, he made his debut for India, on 11 June 2015, against Oman.
In 2015-16, he signed with Chennaiyin FC, but
came back to Bagan, on loan. He became a regular with Chennaiyin in the 2016-17
and 2017-18 season, before moving to Jamshedpur FC for the 2018-19 season.
In
2019-20, he signed for Mohunbagan and was named captain of the Kibu Vicuña
brigade. And again he won the I-League trophy with Bagan, a second time.

2019-20 triumph, he was not part of any team till recently. On February 21,

D’Silva
DOB: 15 September 1992
Position: Attacking Midfielder
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 1 +4 sub-ons

seasons meant he was ruled out from the football ground for a long time. But
his talent was always speaking, and after his rehab and then break for
education, he was signed by the then reigning champions Bengaluru FC in
2014-15, and sent on loan mid-season to Mumbai FC in the 2015, before signing
for the Mumbai team permanently in 2016-17.

Sk
Sahil
DOB: 28 April 2000
Position: Defensive Midfielder, Central
Midfielder
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 13
The second of the Mohunbagan youth products in
the list, is the most regular starter in the team and featured in all the 16
I-league matches, 13 as starter, and 3 from bench. Scouted from the ZeeBangla
league by Kibu and Tomasz, the man from Barrackpore, proved to be a main-stay
in the centre of the park, along with foreigners Fran Glez and Beitia.
Especially his understanding with Glez meant defenders had less work to do.
Post
the 2019-20 league title, Sahil was one of the youth talents that made it into
the Atk Mohunbagan squad to play in the ISL. Through his 2 years (2020-22) stay
in ISL with Mohunbagan, he got a few starts, and his gametime kept on
decreasing.
In the 2022-23, he was signed by Jamshedpur
FC, and in the 3 seasons, he has been sent to different I-League clubs,
Mohammedan SC (in 2022-23), Aizawl FC (in 2023-24), and the newly promoted SC
Bengaluru in 2024-25 season. He started this 24-25 I-League season with SC
Bengaluru but in the winter transfer market, he switched to Inter Kashi, under
the tutelage ofanother national league winning coach of Mohunbagan, Antonio
Lopez Habas.

Bikramjeet
Singh
(On loan from Mumbai City FC)
DOB: 5 May 1993
Position: Centre-Back
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0
Not to be confused with another ex-Mariner of
the similar name of Bikramjit Singh (part of 2014-15 I-League winning squad),
Bikramjeet was part of the 2011-12 Pailan Arrows team. He was then with DSK
Shivajians and Bharat FC before coming to Kolkata to Mohammedan SC in 2015-16.
The next two seasons, he was part of the Mohunbagan squad. In the 2018-19
season, he was signed by Mumbai City FC, only to return back to Mohunbagan on
loan. He started the 2019-20 with Mohunbagan, on loan from Mumbai, but in September
he was signed permanently by Bagan. Post the I-League win, he joined
Bhawanipore FC in 2020-21, and then other regional clubs like Doaba United
(Jalandhar, 2021), Friends United (Delhi, 2021-22), and FC Areacode (Kerala,
2022).
From
the 2022-23 season onwards, he is again part of Kibu's team, this time with
DHFC. In the 2024-25 season, he won the I-League 3 with the club, and gained

Britto

DOB: 15 March 1993
Position: Winger, Centre Forward

Indian Navy football team.
From
2022 to 2024, he played for Rajasthan United in I-League for 2 seasons.

Kiyan
Nassiri
(Kiyan Nassiri Giri)
DOB: 17 November 2000
Position: Attacking Midfielder, Winger
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0 +1 sub-ons
The third of the four Mohunbagan academy
youngsters, incorporated into the senior team by Kibu Vicuña and Tomasz Tchórz,
Kiyan is also the younger son of East Bengal and Mohammedan legend of Iranian
Jamshed Nassiri and came up through the ranks of Calcutta FC and Mohammedan
before joining the Mohunbagan youth team. Though he showed his flair in the
CFL, as Mohunbagan got involved in the title race, youngsters like Kiyan got
lesser chances. But that didn't stop his debut, from the bench, against TRAU,
on 1 March 2020.
After
getting the very first national trophy of his career in the form of I-League
2019-20, he is the only one of academy youngsters, to play regular football at
the highest level in the country, by playing ISL with Mohunbagan for four years
between 2020 and 2024, and winning the ISL Cup 2022-23, Durand Cup 2023, and
also the ISL Shield 2023-24. Kiyan not only has one of the most decorated
trophy cabinets, but also became a member of the list of players, who have won
the national league title twice with Mohunbagan. He is also the only member
from the 2019 squad to be a part of the 2023-24 ISL Shield winning squad.
He made
his Asian stage debut against Uzbek side FC Nasaf in the 2021 AFC Cup knockout
stage. But his claim to fame win always be the ISL hattrick (youngest to do
so), coming on as a sub, that too in the biggest stage of derby, on 29 January
2022, scoring first in the 64th minute and then thrice in the added time,
making the scoreline read MB 3-1 EB.
Ex-mariners coach Juan Ferrando, in an
interview with Anant Tyagi, also heaped praises on the youngster.
Before
the start of 2024-24 season, he signed with Chennaiyin FC in search of newer
challenges.

Daneil
Cyrus 🇹🇹
(Daneil Nicholas Cyrus)
DOB: 15 December 1990
Position: Centre-Back

With Fran Morante, Daneil Cyrus completed the
centre-back combination in most of the games. The man from Tobago started his
career with Joe Public FC( which also has players like Marcus Joseph, Marvin
Phillips, Radanfah Abu Bakr, players who would later come to play for Indian
clubs), in his home country of Trinidad and Tobago, before moving to FC Santa
Rosa in 2009-10. He was sent on loan, first to Caledonia AIA (2010-11) and then
to USA to FC Sporting Kansas City (2011-12). He signed with W Connection in 2012-13,
and was sent on loan to Vietnamese side Ha noi T&T FC (2013-14), and then
the American side Chicago Fire (2015-16). In 2017-18, he signed for Juticalpa,
a team from Honduras, before coming back to his homeland, signing for Central

in 2021-22. For 2022-23 season, he returned to India, with Sudeva Delhi, only
to get relegated. In 2023-24, he played for a side in his homeland, La
Horquetta Rangers FC.

Sk
Faiaz
(On loan from Atk)
DOB: 3 March 1995
Position: Winger
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0 +4 sub-ons
The man from Howrah played most of his career
in Kolkata, starting with Mohammedan in 2015, and continued for two seasons
till 2017. Impressed with the youngster’s game, Mohunbagan signed him in
2017-18, though he returned Mohammedan on loan mid season. In 2018-19, he
signed with ISL playing side Atk, before coming back to Mohunbagan on loan. At
the start of the season of 2019-20, he was still on loan, before permanently
signing for Mohunbagan before the closure of transfer window, to become part of
the league winning side.
In 2020-21, he signed for Mohammedan , and in
the four years with the club, he helped the club get promoted back to I-League,
and win back-to-back CFLs in 2021,2022,2023, and then the I-League with
Mohammedan in 2023-24 season (though this time, he won't be a part of
‘Champions of India' squad’ as I-League has become the 2nd tier in Indian
football structure, beneath the ISL).
He is
not part of the Mohammedan squad that is competing in the ISL 2024-25, and is
without a club at the moment. With I-League starting, it would be interesting
to see if he signs for any I-League club or anywhere else.
#49
Subha
Ghosh
DOB: 22 December 2000
Position: Centre Forward
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 0 +8 sub-ons
The fourth and final one of the Mohunbagan
youth products in the squad, Subha was picked up by Kibu and Tomasz from the
ZeeBangla league into the senior team, and perfectly fit into the role of Super
Sub.
Coming
through the United SC academy before joining Bagan, he became a vital part of
game-plan in the last 30 mins of play, coming off the bench 8 times, scoring
thrice. Of the three goals, his third one is the most valuable, as he scored a
88th minute equalizer against Roundglass in Punjab, saving a crucial one point,
the one point proving valuable as Mohunbagan got to be the 2019-20 I-League
Champions, even though matches had to be cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.
He got incorporated into the Mohunbagan team, playing in ISL, and in the winter
transfer window of 2020-21, an exchange of Nongdamba Naorem and Subha Ghosh
between Kerala Blasters and Mohunbagan was proposed. Though Subha went to KBFC,
the Nongdamba deal didn't go as planned. In 2021-22 , he came back to Bengal,
but for East Bengal, on loan from Kerala Blasters, but he didn't get enough
gametime. The next season, he signed up for Gokulam Kerala B, before switching
to FC Bengaluru United in I-League 2. In 2023-24, he started the season with Bhawanipore
FC in CFL, before moving to Kenkre FC, playing for I-League 2. In the 2024-25
season too, he represented the Bhawanipore FC in the CFL. Recently he signed up
with Khandoba FC (under Kolhapur Sports Association) for the 2024-25 season.

Fran
Glez 🇪🇸
(Francisco Javier González Muñoz)
DOB: 1 February 1989
Position: Defensive Midfielder, Centre Back
Starts in I-League 2019-20: 16
The ‘Boss’, the heartbeat of the 2019-20
I-League winning Bagan team was definitely Fran González. The man from
Andalusia, was a Real Madrid youth product, playing for the teams from the
Spanish third and fourth tier since 2008. Starting with Almeria B (from
Andalusia) in 2008-09, and then with Estepona, and Lucena (both from
Andalusia), with a season with Deportivo la Coruna B (from Galicia) in between
in 2010-11. In 2012-13 season, he signed with Zaragoza B (from Aragon), and
graduated into their senior team. In 2013-14, he returned to his hometown,
signing for Cordoba CF B, before leaving for the Valencian club Hércules CF
next year.
In
2015-16, he played for Cypriot top tier club, Ermis Aradippou. In 2016, he
signed with Thai club Pattaya United, before returning to Europe with Bytovia
Bytów in Poland. During his two years at the club, he got into the notebook
of rival coach Kibu Vicuña and his
Tomasz Tórchz, (they were part of the coaching staff of Slask Wroclaw).
In
2018-19, he joined the newly formed Hongkong team Lee Man, and as captain won
their first trophy, the 2019 HK Sapling Cup.
In
2019-20, Kibu got hold of the Defensive Midfielder that caught his eyes in
Poland. Not only as a DM, Fran could slot in as a defender and played that
part, before the arrival of Daneil Cyrus, and when Salva Chamorro and Julen
Colinas were misfiring as a scoring unit, it was Glez who put on his scoring
shoes to ensure Mohunbagan left the field with points. He finished league as
the joint highest scorer for Mohunbagan, along with Diawara with 10 goals, and
lest you forget, he wasn't a striker, rather a Defensive Midfielder. His
bossing of midfield with a young Sk Sahil, and continuous passing to Beitia and
co, meant the Bagan scoring unit was well fed. He along with Ashu Mehta, would
regularly rise up from defence, and raid the opponents’ box for goals. The man
with a mohawk will not only be remembered for his workload on the field, but
also for energising the fans, along with rattling the guard-rails of Kalyani
Stadium.
After
2019-20 I-League winning season, he approached the Mohunbagan management, as he
was the only one to have a multiple year contract with the club, but the new
management didn't show signs of taking him. After waiting for quite some time,
he signed for fellow ISL side Bengaluru FC for 2020-21 season. In 2021-22, he
signed with Real Kashmir, to win the IFA Shield 2021, scoring two goals.
He
returned to Spain in 2022, signing for the Catalonian club, Terrassa FC, for
the 2022-23, In 2023, he signed for Union Puerto, before coming closer to home
with the Andalusian league (Spanish 6th tier of football pyramid) team Atlético
Porcuna in 2023-24, and helped the team gain promotion into the national league
structure (tier 5), and is still contracted with the club.
Special
Mentions:
Though
these players were not part of the I-League winning squad of 2019, they played
a part in the other tournaments, CFL, Durand Cup and the Sk Kamal Cup in 2019.
Also
this is not an exhaustive list, we have chosen only 5 players, due to the
following reasons
- Post
I-League winning celebration, Mohunbagan fans displayed a 3-piece tifo,
inside the Mohunbagan ground, showing ‘King Kibu' in the middle, sitting
on a throne, with the I-League trophy by his side. And on the left and
right side of this tifo, another two tifos, showing the name and jersey
numbers of the players of the 2019-20 campaign. Since these players
featured in the tifo and got the love and recognition from the Mohunbagan
fans, we being Mohunbagan fans ourselves didn't feel like reducing them to
nothingness. They also were regulars in the Kolkata maidaan.
- One of them
has made it big, getting recognition and gametime now, in ISL, and we
couldn't help not to include him.

Imran
Khan
(Imran Khan Niyazi)
(On loan from FC Goa)
Position: Left Winger
He started one match in the Durand Cup (2019),
and subbed on in three others, but with the left winger position stacked with
Nongdamba and Jesuraj, it meant he wouldn't get enough gametime.
The Manipuri started with Mohammedan in 2013,
till 2016 and then went to I-League 2 side Fateh Hyderabad (2017).
In 2018, impressed by his performance, he got
into the ISL playing side, FC Goa, but then sent on loan for gametime, in the
winter transfer window 2018-19, to Gokulam Kerala in 2019.
In the
2019-20 pre-season, he started with Mohunbagan on loan. He was also part of the
I-League squad at the start but couldn't make it into the team sheet, before
moving to Neroca in the same season.
In
2020-21 season, Imran got his first major breakthrough, by playing regularly in
the ISL with NEUFC. After impressing with the club for three seasons,
(2020-23), he switched sides in the 2023-24 season, signing for Jamshedpur, and
has been playing there ever since.

Arijit
Bagui
Position: Right Back
The Dankuni man was a winger in his young days
with Kalighat MS, before changing it to Right Back position, during his stint
with Peerless.
In the 2017-18 season, he signed with
Mohunbagan as a replacement for Pritam Kotal (who went to ISL), but he got
injured. When he returned, Shankarlal Chakraborty had taken the reign from
Sanjay Sen, and he became a main-stay in the team. He also won the CFL 2018
with Bagan. He also got the ‘Mohunbagan best footballer of the year award’ in
‘Mohunbagan Dibas’ (29 July 2019).
Kibu Vicuña’s first preference for the right
back position had to be Ashutosh, and so Bagui moved to I-League 2 side
Bhawanipore FC in 2019-20 and then Mohammedan in I-League in 2020-21.
From
2021 onwards, he is part of the Sreenidhi Deccan team for four seasons now,
that constantly finished in the top half of the I-League and this year too, he
is part of the Sreenidhi Deccan squad. In between, he also played for
Bhawanipore in CFL 2023 and I-League 3 2023-24.

Kimkima
(Lalchhawnkima)
Position: Centre Back
The man from Manipur first appeared in the
I-League stage in 2014-15 with the newly promoted Shillong side Royal
Washinhdoh which finished 3rd in the league under the tutelage of Santosh
Kashyap. It was also the same year Mohunbagan won their first I-League title
with Sanjay Sen.
In the
ISL session of 2015, he signed with Atk, but got sidelined with injury.
He
played both I-League and ISL simultaneously, playing for Aizawl (2016) and
Mumbai FC (2017) in I-League, while playing for Delhi Dynamos (2016) and Mumbai
City FC (2017) in ISL. In 2018, he came
back to Aizawl on loan. In 2018-19, he signed for Mohunbagan, winning the CFL
in 2018. In 2019-20, he started the season with Mohunbagan, but after making it
to the substitution bench only once, he was deemed surplus to the requirements.
In
2021-22 season, he signed with Real Kashmir and won the IFA Shield 2021 with
the club. From 2022-23 season onwards, he is still a part of Aizawl FC squad.
He also played CFL in 2023 for Bhawanipore FC.

Surabuddin
Mollick
Position: Midfielder
Along with Azharuddin and Samad Ali Mallick
(who is now playing ISL with Md Sp in 2024-25), Surabuddin was part of three
‘Mallicks’ that played in Kolkata maidaan during similar time-frames.
