Jose Francisco Molina succeeds Habas as the Mohun Bagan Boss

Today, Mohun Bagan SG has announced the name of Jose Francisco Molina as the Head Coach of the club for the upcoming season.

Molina is not a new face to Indian Football as he won the Indian Super League trophy in 2016, with now defunct ATK FC. Molina replaces Antonio Lopez Habas at the helm, who carried Bagan side to the ISL Shield Win and qualification for the AFC Champions League 2.

“I am honoured to be part of Mohun Bagan Super Giant, a club with rich legacy. I hope to bring more success to the club and its fans,” Molina said in a statement released by the club.

“I would also like to thank Dr. Goenka for giving me this opportunity and responsibility to take charge as head coach of Mohun Bagan Super Giant.”

The 53 year old from Spain started his coaching career in 2009 with Villareal C team. He tasted his first managerial success in Asia as he helped Hong Kong side Kitchee FC won the Domestic Treble. His most prominent role as a manager or administrator came when he was appointed as the Sporting Director of the Royal Spanish Football Federation in 2018 till 2022.
