Mohun Bagan Midfielder Hugo Boumous is all set to make a permanent move to neighbouring state club Odisha FC, once the transfer window opens, MBFT understands.
As reported, Hugo was attracting interests from atleast 3 ISL sides in Bengaluru FC, FC Goa and Odisha FC, but, the Moroccan midfielder chose to move to Odisha FC to reunite with former coach Sergio Lobera and Friend Roy Krishna.
Hugo had a contract running till 2026 at Bagan, but, MBFT understands, Management were searching for possible suitors and Odisha FC agreed terms with Bagan management for the deal.
As per Rohan Meher, Hugo will join Odisha on a 3 year deal and Mohun Bagan are set to receive record transfer fee in club's history.
In another news, as reported earlier in our X handle, Mohun
Bagan has decided not to continue with Antonio Lopez Habas as a head coach. Habas took over a disoriented Mohun Bagan side in February, and made them champions of India.
Everything was going fine, but Habas's age took a toll in the business end, when, due to illness he missed some games.
Hence, MBFT has been told, the management and Habas himself has reached an agreement to see him step aside and Mohun Bagan appointing a new head coach.
When asked, MBFT has been informed the new coach is already finalised, but the paperworks are not done yet. Once everything is done, an official announcement from Mohun Bagan SG social media will follow.
We have been told, management are still in talks with Habas for a Technical Director role. It's not yet agreed but we expect an update on this regard soon.
