One final push this season . All the hard and gruelling training sessions, mental toughness of the players, will be put to test for the final time this season in front a packed VYBK, where thousands of Mariners’ faithful will be waiting for their team’s success for an incredible end to the season as Mohun Bagan will take on Mumbai City FC in the ISL final on 4th May, 2023, Saturday at the iconic Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata.

Mohun Bagan started the season well after winning the Durand Cup as well as starting the AFC Cup campaign with well drilled victories, they also started their league campaign with an absolute boom and became the first side to win first 5 matches of the league , but bad times were soon to follow as they crashed out of the AFC Cup , lost 3 league matches in a row and also bowed out of the Super cup, but soon to steady the sail of the ship , Captain Antonio Lopez Habas was welcomed onboard , who not only steady the ship , he made Mariners the ISL league shield champions , breaking many records on it’s way to the top.

15th April, 2024 was the last date, when these two goliaths of Indian Football collided in an thrilling encounter, to decide the ISL league Shield champions , where Mohun Bagan came out on top thanks to goals from Liston Colaco and Jason Cummings and secured the Mariners’ qualification for the first ever edition of AFC Champions League 2.

Indian Football fraternity will be excited to see the giants again collide, this time with ISL cup on the line. Mariners’ , who are the defending champions , will be eager to add a second ISL trophy to their cabinet and become the first side to defend the ISL cup and the second ever side to complete the ISL double, other than that, Mohun Bagan are also on the Verge of completing the domestic treble. Mumbai City FC on the other hand will be eager to get hands on the trophy to cap off  a wonderful season , under their new coach Petr Kratky.

In the recent history of Indian Football , these two sides have been major powerhouses in Indian Football , with multiple trophies to show for that. Tactically and Technically , these two sides are far superior from any other sides in the ISL. So, anyone can expect a cagey and tactical display of football on the Saturday night final at the VYBK.
