After ensuring qualification for the inaugural AFC Champions League 2 as the first Indian Club, Mohun Bagan are determined to improve in the existing squad to compete in the Asian levels.
Midfield is an area, where Mohun Bagan is eyeing for atleast one addition as midfielders like Glan Martins and Hnamte are poised to leave the club. With the emergence of Abhishek Suryavanshi, the think tank feels only one addition is enough, and they want the best in that role.
MBFT has been told, Mohun Bagan are currently negotiating with the Blasters management, and they are prepared to offer INR 2.2 Cr in transfer fees to the club. If the player agrees, a deal of 3 year is proposed with an option to extend it for 2 more years. Mohun Bagan is interested in the player for atleast 2 seasons now, and, the deal couldn't happen due to some obstacles.
But, Mohun Bagan is ready to try their luck again in the market as they are prepared to negotiate with Kerala regarding the same. The player has got an offer from Emami East Bengal too, while Kerala's neighbour Chennaiyin is also interested.
Mohun Bagan will not make wholesale changes in the squad, and, they are prepared to keep Antonio Lopez Habas for atleast one more season as the head coach. But the final decision lies with Habas only, and, if he doesn't want to stay (which is highly possible), Mohun Bagan will opt for some different names, as management have held initial talks with other candidates too. Sergio Lobera is one of the strong candidates for the role, while Manolo Roca has been in the radar for past few seasons.
As reported earlier, Mohun Bagan have scouted Sanan K, but deal is difficult as Jamshedpur wants hefty fee for the player. Mohun Bagan will sign one winger, but, the former target Baris Atik is poised to sign a new long term contract at his current club. It's highly likely Bagan will sign a marquee foreign forward for some much needed attacking reinforcement.
Mohun Bagan is expected to offer a new deal to the prodigy Dippendu Biswas, after the ISL season gets over. Also, few more youngsters from the reserve team are also expected to sign the new extension deal.
