Born on June 5, 1998, in Khemkaran, Punjab, Mehtab’s dedication was evident early on as he traveled 165 km to the Mahilpur Football Academy to train. He later joined the East Bengal youth setup, where he famously scored in an U-18 Derby victory against Mohun Bagan in 2017.
Professional Journey
After debuting for East Bengal’s senior team in 2017, he had a loan spell at Gokulam Kerala before moving to Mumbai City FC in 2020. Over five seasons with the Islanders, he evolved from a squad player into a defensive pillar, making nearly 100 appearances and competing in the AFC Champions League.

His stint at Mumbai City was marked by immense success, including winning the ISL Shield and Cup "Double" in 2020-21.
