EXCL: Miguel Figuera signs for Mohun Bagan in a 2-Year Deal

Mohun Bagan made the initial move for Miguel Figuera Damasceno in January, 2026. Having seen his performance in recent years, Mohun Bagan management already made up their mind on onboarding him if he performs well in ISL. When ISL 2025/26 came to a close, Mohun Bagan was contacted by the camp of Miguel Figuera, informing the club about his interest of playing in the Green-and-Maroon colours.

Since 23rd May, 2026, both Mohun Bagan and the player's camp kept in constant touch to make this deal happen. Meanwhile, East Bengal FC also offered Miguel a 1+1 year deal where the extension will be triggered if they win the ISL again.

But Miguel's heart was set for Mohun Bagan, ever since he witnessed the ardent passion of the Mariners during his stint in Bangladesh. Even when he moved to India to play for East Bengal FC last year, his first choice was to play for Mohun Bagan. But surprisingly, he recieved no bid from Mohun Bagan at that time.

This time, Mohun Bagan did not want to miss this opportunity. Inspite of scouting and considering two other European midfielders for the new season, Miguel's youthful age made him a prime prospect in the eyes of Mohun Bagan management.

As informed earlier, in the end of April, 2026, camp of Oscar Bruzon, Miguel Figuera and Kevin Sibille, made contact with Mohun Bagan. Since then, the decision was already taken within the management that if only one of the three had to be brought in, it had to be none other than Miguel Figuera Damasceno.

The management acted promptly without further delay in this matter. Last week, on 9th June evening, the final meeting between management and Miguel took place where final terms of contract were agreed upon. He signed a 2-year contract with Mohun Bagan that includes an extension clause for one more year.

Miguel will be earning around 4 Crores per season, in his first two seasons as a Mohun Bagan player. In all probability, he is going to be the fifth foreigner signing for Mohun Bagan.

Next in the pipeline for Mohun Bagan is a Second Striker who can play in multiple positions. The management is currently scouting for that profile.

Regarding coach, MBFT sources have been informed internally about the possible official announcement of the new coach of Mohun Bagan within the next 5 days. Apart from Panagiotis Dilmperis and Petr Kratky, a Serbian Coach, a ISL-experienced Coach and another surprising recently added name, are in the current race for the job. Interviews with all the coaches have been concluded and the final decision will be officially announced soon.
