"Our Target is to finish at the Top of the Table."-Coach Sergio Lobera
Mohun Bagan faced Jamshedpur FC in the JRD Tata Complex on last Saturday. Liston Colaco scored a world-class top-corner curl in the first half, and Mariners held the lead for most of the time. Towards the dying minutes, golden sub Ritwik got at the end of a pin-point cross from Messi Bouli and headed it home to share the spoils in this big clash.
After the match, Coach Sergio Lobera appeared in the Post-Match Press Conference.
When asked whether the match was lost due to fatigue, he replied,"I don't think so. In the last minutes, we missed some clear chances to score goals. We did everything to win the game. We had clear chances to score the second goal but we kept missing half-chances to kill the game. In the last thirteen seconds, we conceded a goal and it was very painful to lose 2 points [because of that]. Today, we deserved to win!".
Despite some possible lapses of intent and effort, Coach remains confident about his players and praised their spirit on the field. "We had control over the game against a difficult opponent. They [JFC] are good in long balls and crosses. My players gave amazing effort to win the game. Although we conceded a goal in the last minute, for me, it was about having the opportunity to score the second goal."
The Coach still has his eyes fixed on the goal of winning ISL this season with Mohun Bagan. About acquiring just 2 points from the last 3 matches [and losing 7], Lobera says,"We have 14 points. Our target is to finish at the top of the table. Game against Mumbai City FC was different, but we had this game in our pocket. Playing well in these types of games against these type of opponents is a good mentality, because in 13 seconds with 1 specific action, it can change everything!"
Sergio remains calm about single-fixture games and doesn't seem bothered to have same points as 3 other teams at the moment. He further says,"We have better goal difference. According to the rules this time, it's not about Head-to-Head. It's all about the Goal Difference!" About the other teams, Coach replied," Mumbai City FC has to face JFC here [JRD Tata Complex] next week and we have our own match at VYBK versus Punjab FC. We need to focus on our own match and get the three points. I am very confident (even when we lost two points in this way) about reaching our target by the end of the season. Our squad showed great mentality today and it will be difficult not only for us, but other teams as well!"
His final comments were about Liston Colaco, who sat next to Coach, praising him saying that sometimes, it's good to be selfish and score such goals.
Pathetic gameplay. Points shared at the Furnace.

Liston himself shared his thoughts about the game. " I feel disappointed about losing 2 points. In these games, you cannot grab the points, you have to EARN IT! In some moments, we lacked some things. It's part of the game. Hopefully, we can win 3 points from the next game. "
With the draw still hanging over the heads, Mariners exited the Post-Match Press Conference, with a hope to get back to winnings ways, from the next match at home against Punjab FC on Sunday.
