Niyaj had an interest in football from his childhood days, but, every sportsman needs a guide, like Sachin Tendulkar has an Ajit Tendulkar; Niyaj's story is no different. Rishan, Niyaj's brother, identified Niyaj's knack for playing the beautiful game, and, he took the initiative of taking Niyaj to local playgrounds and to any local tournaments to give Niyaj playtime.

Umer Muhthar KP, the left-footed Centre Back of Mohun Bagan also hails from Kerala and happens to be a friend of Rishan (Niyaj's elder brother).

Niyaj's performance not only caught Bino's eyes, but, Umer Muhthar also identified his incredible talent, and recommended Niyaj to Mohun Bagan's scouting team.

It is often told, you can't achieve success without a great family. Niyaj has got an excellent family backing, who helped him from the very beginning of his career and they have helped him in every possible way to chase his dream in becoming a professional footballer and become a Mohun Bagan player. His father Mammad, Mother Fathima and brother Rishan played crucial role in this move to Mohun Bagan.

Credits to Deggie Cardozo and his scouting team, who took Umer's suggestions and extensive scouting were followed. Mohun Bagan sees huge potential in the boy and they have given him his first professional Contract.

Niyaj's signing means a lot to the Karamoola people. Farshad, who has helped MBFT closely on this story says "My countrymen and I feel proud that Mohun Bagan, a big club, has signed Niyaj"

Mohun Bagan have signed Niyaj on a multi-year deal, and, he will initially join Deggie Cardozo for the reserves side.
