"We are Mohun Bagan. We are dignified. We are decent and We do not react to provocations" - Dr. Goenka on Anwar Ali saga !

Today, in the RPSG house, Mohun Bagan SG Chairman Dr. Sanjiv Goenka met the press with new Head coach Jose Molina and Club Signing Jamie Maclaren.

Here is what they said:

Jamie Maclaren on Kolkata Derby:

"I have had the opportunities to play many different derbies. I have watched most recent Kolkata Derby with 60,000 plus fans in a stadium. One (fanbase) goes home happy, one does not. So, I am really excited to play in a derby game;It means more to the fans; It's a lot of spice, and passion, and, I know it means a lot. When I was in the taxi, in a way from the airport, all the fans were talking about is the 18th, the Derby. It shows how much they care about it,and, it shows me, how much they care. And trust me, inside the dressing room, we have just as much (passion as the fans) and we cannot wait to obviously play in these derbies and I have seen Dimi and Jason scoring in those games and hopefully I will be the next one to score in those games."

Jamie on Winning Trophies:

"Yes, like I touched on before. I understand the fans will want to win everything, and trust me, we are going to give everything in training to make sure that we will win every game and take the advise from the coach, as he has a lot of experience and (we) have to learn from him. But we have a lot of quality in our team, and there going to be times, where I am not playing and Dimi is playing, Cummings is playing, but, as a team, you have to support everybody in the group, and, in the dressing room and, when you have that, it's very healthy; and when it's healthy, comes success, and there is no surprise. I have joined this football club not just because I wanted to, but also I know that there is a demand to always compete and I cannot wait to win more games than we loose because that's what mohun bagan does."

Jamie on handling pressure:

"I see it as an excitement . I have already seen how amazing the fans are at the airport. I don’t feel pressure. I am coming into a team that is already successful."

Jamie's message to the fans:

"I am hungrier now as I was five years ago. I am really looking forward to wearing the Mohun Bagan Jersey. We are all going to give our best to score goals together with Dimi and Jason. Lot of trophies to play for. We will aim to win all games."

Coach Molina was asked about his plans for Durand and Playstyle.

Good Afternoon everybody! First of all, thank you to the chairman of the club to bring me back here in Kolkata. Very happy to be here again in Kolkata; to be here in India, in [the] ISL. Very excited for this season. We are going to face with, I think very good teams [and] good players in those teams. We have reinforced the the team with some new additions like Jamie. Very happy to bring him here and to have him here with us. The only thing I can tell you is that, of course we are going to work very hard to retain the titles this time with Mohun Bagan.

On Coaching a Big Club like Mohun Bagan :

Of course of course, I know the pressure exists, you know and you are telling now the supporters put pressure as well. I'm 13 years working [in] football and [it] doesn't matter, okay? Sometimes, in some places, [there] is more pressure than in others, but the pressure always exists, you know, in every club, in every country. It's [in] my life to live with the pressure, you know? I'm going to work hard trying to my best every day, every single day and every training session in every match helping my players [so that] they can do [their] best [on] the pitch. And the pressure is not a problem for me, you know; I know what I have to do.

On his Philosophy :

Well I think I think I was here sometime ago and you could see my philosophy, of course. The most important is to have very good players [which] I think we have in the club, and prepare a good squad for us and now we have to give them the opportunity to develop this talent inside the pitch. Of course we want to be [a] offensive team, we want to attack, we want to be aggressive in the pressure situations when we don't have the ball. We want to be the team who, I'm sorry I don't know how to say that very thing, but we want to be the team who dominates the game, you know and, we know, right now everybody wants to beat Mohun Bagan. We want to play attacking football. We want to dominate every match.

Coach Molina on next preparations:

[In the] match on the 8th of August we are going try to to put in the field our best team, thinking that we are in preparation still and we are going to try to to compete in the Durand Cup with the best players as possible, again thinking that we are in preparation, [which] just started a few days ago and trying to compete and trying to of course, how I told you before and everybody is telling, we have to look for the victory in every match; we are going to play to defend who we are.

I told your colleagues before, that you have to try to win all the matches, right? [It] doesn't matter if it's the ISL, it doesn't matter if it's the Durand Cup [or] it is the [AFC] Champions League [2], the Asian competition, okay? We want to try to [give] our best in every match with all the players, with the help of the club, the management and try to win this important ISL, this important Champions League. Every match will be the most important, you know? When we are going to play one match; that one will be the most important match, and we are going to to try to win that match and give everything to do it.

I was here in Kolkata, coaching ATK. I know I'm coming now for a different Club, Mohun Bagan, one of the biggest clubs, not only in India, even in Asia, with a lot of history, with great fans [who are] very supporting, very passionate in supporting the team. It's a great challenge [for] me to be here. I know Mohun Bagan fans want to win, [they] want to win trophies, the same that I want, the same that the players want, the same that the owners want. Every match we are going to play, of course it will be very difficult to win all of them but we are going to try, we are going to work hard, trying to make the fans, the club, the management- everybody happy, and that's the challenge.

Club chairman Dr. Goenka was asked about the status of Anwar Ali.

Dr. Goenka on Anwar Ali Saga:

"Mohun Bagan is an emotion, It's not just a club, it's an institution. So, when you represent Mohun Bagan, you represent much more than a club, that's first point. We have this time, three world cuppers in the team, which I don't think any other team in the league has, point two. Point number three, Anwar is somebody I am very fond of. He is a sweet kid. But I am not going to share our club's stand in a Press Conference, particularly when the matter is in front of the Players Status Committee. Its for them to take the call and we will abide by. We are Mohun Bagan. We are dignified. We are decent and we do not react to provocations."

If Anwar is an Unwilling Horse:

"All these are hypothetical question. You are "assuming" he is an unwilling horse; has he told you he is an unwilling horse? Wait and see; Our experience last season with Anwar was very good, He was an outstanding team man, Great player, Great athlete and a Very sweet kid; so, I have nothing more to add."
