Being undefeated in the opening 6 games of the league, Mariners entered the match with full of confidence inspite of key players such as Sahal , Anwar being absent . Juan , who was suspended for this match was not in the sidelines as Clifford Miranda takes charge for this game in his absence. Clifford named his starting 11 with almost same line-up from the previous encounter against Odisha FC , just one change where Deepak Tangri came in for injured Glan Martins . Deepak Tangri makes his return to the starting 11 after almost a year before being injured at the same venue against the same opponent.
With the ISL Shield in aim , there is no scope for dropping points had mariners had exactly the thing in mind and started the match on a intense note but Northeast had other plans as they started to pile up the pressure on the mariners right from the get go and were rewarded almost in the 1st minute as a shot Mohammed Ali Bemmamer was deflected by Hamill for a corner. The highlanders , however, didn't have to wait long as a long range strike from midfielder Phalguni Singh entered goal right from the top left corner as Vishal Kaith could do nothing to stop that from going in. In the 14th minute Liston Colaco earned a free-kick at the left wing , which he launched into the box for the Bagan players to score , but the ball got deflected off Northeast goalkeeper , Mirshad only to again rebound off Deepak Tangri to get in the goal. The score-line got equalized at 1 all.

Mohun Bagan now increased the intensity in search of the lead goal and was successful as Thapa launched a ball in the box for sadiku, who calmly headed it down for Jason Cummings to slot it in for his third goal in the league. The first half ended 2-1 for the mariners .

Second half began in a chaotic fashion as Northeast United's Tondonba Singh was shown a red card for a bad foul within 9 minutes from the starting of the second half. After opponents being down to 10 men, Mariner's assistant coach Clifford thought of increasing the goal difference and brought in Hugo Boumous and Manvir Singh . As both the players were returning from injuries , it was also aimed that they get proper game time and get into the pace of the season . Dimi Petratos was thrown into the fray at the 70th minute in place of Armando Sadiku. Just a minute later , Liston gave a through ball inside the box for aimed at onrushing Subhashish Bose, who calmly slots it home for the mariner`s third of the night and confirmed three points at the away turf.

Last few minutes literally became mariners
attack against highlanders defense . Mariners ended the match with 23 shots to
their name , such was their attacking dominance.
Mariners,
with this win moved to the 3rd position in the league table with 19 points , one less
prom from 1st and 2nd placed goa and kerala with a game
in hand . Mariners showed their character and mental toughness in coming back from behind to secure a 3-1 win. Mohun Bagan will now face a tough test away from home against Mumbai
City FC on 20th of December , who will be hoping to have a great
start under their new head coach petr Kratky.
Player Ratings from MBFT :-
Vishal
Kaith – 6.5/10
Had a great
outing , handled and distributed the ball well. Couldn't have done anything
for the highlander’s goal, which was just a worldie.
Brendan
Hamill – 6/10
Had a
decent evening, formed a great trio at the back with Captain Subha & Hector. Though he could have done more for covering the post during Northeast's
goal, but nothing to complain more for that.
Hector
Yuste – 7/10
A great
outing from the experienced campaigner, kept Nestor in his Right pocket.
Subhashish
Bose – 8.5/10
Had a wonderful
evening, brilliant defensive performance. He was also going forward to help the team in attack which resulted him of capping it off with a goal.
Ashish Rai – 7/10
He was pivotal in today's game and he delivered it well. He nullified all those attacks from the right (NE's Left). Hope his consistent performance continues.
Deepak
Tangri – 7/10
Finally Juan went with a typical defensive midfielder, which was nothing but a great decision. His significant impact was visible. Thanks to him, Thapa & Liston got their actual position back and they both dropped a masterclass.
Anirudh
Thapa – 9/10
The more we say, the more is less. What a brilliant performance from the Magic Man. From going forward to dropping deep, Anirudh Thapa is everywhere. This was probably his best performance in Mohun Bagan jersey.
Liston
Colaco – 7.5/10
Great game from the Superman. Linking up very well with the team. Got that assist of Subhasish's goal. Liston's superform continues.
Jason
Cummings – 7.5/10
Great Game from the Australian. Scored the 2nd goal for the team. He was occupying space in the front, which helped the team to attack more and more.
Kiyan
Nassiri – 8/10
Armando
Sadiku – 7.5/10
His great display continues, this is exactly what we expect from our No9. His great positioning sense was pivotal in team's brilliant attacking display.
Substitutes –
Hugo
Boumous – 7/10
Showed his class after coming back from injury . Was booked for a silly reaction and argument.
Dimitrios
Petratos – 7/10
The missing piece of Bagan's puzzle is back once again and co-ordinated all moves again. Had a great performance .
Manvir singh
– 7/10
After a long period, Manvir is back again from injury. He got some brilliant balls to increase the team's GD but eventually he failed. Apart from that great performance.
Suhail
Ahmad Bhat – 6/10
He was great in the period he got.
Lalrinliana
Hnamte – 6.5/10
Subbed on in the 81' min and he created some great chances.
